ABOUT BRCA

Men and women who have a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation have an increased risk for developing certain cancers, including breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate. Research suggests that women with BRCA mutations have up to a 75% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer, and up to a 50% lifetime risk of developing ovarian cancer. Men with a BRCA mutation have up to a 40% lifetime risk of developing aggressive prostate cancer. It is estimated that 25 million people worldwide have a BRCA mutation, and only 10% are aware they carry this hereditary gene mutation.

ABOUT THE BASSER CENTER

OUR HOPE

That the Basser Center will eliminate BRCA-related cancers and, in doing so, provide a road map for curing other genetic diseases. Funds raised through this event will help to quicken the pace of lifesaving medical discoveries.
